Effect of Vitamin D on Dental Health

According to recent studies done by Canadian researchers, it has been shown that the Vitamin D level of the mother has a reasonable affect on a baby’s dental health.

Vitamin D is a vitamin that regulates calcium and phosphorus levels in the body and manages calcium absorption in the intestine and calcium reabsorption in the kidneys (Actually,it behaves more or less like a hormone and yet we have to call it a vitamin just for the heck of it)

The researchers have found that babies born to mothers with lower Vitamin D are more prone to Enamel defects and childhood caries.

This was confirmed when mothers of infants with childhood caries were found to have lower vitamin D levels during pregnancy
